Heat, suction and a series of appointments.

Contoura by InMode is a radiofrequency platform with three handpieces. BodyFX treats larger areas such as the abdomen, flanks and thighs, combining radiofrequency heating with vacuum-assisted suction that pulls tissue into the applicator so the energy reaches the fat layer rather than only the skin. MiniFX does the same on smaller areas. Forma Plus delivers heat without suction, which makes it the skin tightening tool of the three.

The distinction worth understanding before you book is that this is a contouring treatment and not a weight loss treatment. It works on a discrete area you can put a hand on, and it does not change the number on a scale in any meaningful way. Someone whose real concern is overall body weight gets a better result from a medical weight program, and will be told so at the consult rather than after session four. The same applies to loose skin: radiofrequency tightens mild laxity and does not substitute for surgery when skin is genuinely redundant.

It also only works as a series. One session does not produce a result anybody notices. The protocol here is six to eight sessions scheduled weekly, with the number set by the area treated, and the effect keeps developing for weeks after the final visit.

Whether this is the right treatment for you.

Worth booking if

  • A stubborn area that has not responded to consistent diet and training
  • Dimpling or uneven texture on the thighs, buttocks or abdomen
  • Mild skin laxity you would like firmed rather than surgically removed
  • You can commit to a weekly appointment for six to eight weeks

Probably not if

  • You are looking to lose weight overall, which this does not do
  • You have significant loose skin after major weight loss, where surgery is the honest answer
  • You have a pacemaker, defibrillator or other implanted electronic device
  • You have metal implants in the area being treated, or an active skin infection, rash or open wound there
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You expect a result without maintaining your weight afterward

What happens in the room.

  1. Marking and a grid

The area is measured, photographed and marked so each weekly session covers the same territory. Contact gel goes on, because radiofrequency needs it to move heat evenly instead of in hot spots.

  2. The pass itself

The handpiece moves over the marked area while the device holds tissue at a target temperature. With BodyFX and MiniFX you feel suction pulling the skin up along with steady heat, which most people describe as a firm, warm deep tissue massage. Forma Plus feels like heat alone. You are asked throughout whether the temperature is comfortable.

  3. Walking out

The treated area is warm and pink, similar to how skin looks after a hot shower, and that settles within a few hours. There is no wrapping, no garment and no recovery. People go back to work, and training the same day is fine.

How it is run here: 6 to 8 sessions, scheduled weekly.

Body Contouring and Skin Tightening questions.

Does it hurt?
Most people find it comfortable and describe warmth with a gentle pulling sensation from the vacuum. It should read as a strong deep tissue massage, not as pain. Say something during the session if it crosses that line, because the settings can be changed in the moment.
Is this a weight loss treatment?
No, and this is the most important thing to be clear about. It reshapes a specific area. It does not meaningfully change your weight. If weight is the actual goal, a medical weight program is the right starting point and contouring makes more sense afterward.
How many sessions will I need?
Six to eight, scheduled weekly, is the standard here. Larger areas and more significant texture concerns sit at the higher end. You get the number you are looking at before the first session rather than partway through.
When will I see a difference?
Some people notice a change after the first few sessions, but the honest answer is that the meaningful result appears in the weeks following the completed series as the body clears treated tissue and collagen continues remodeling. Judging it the day after the last visit is judging it early.
Are the results permanent?
Fat cells destroyed in treatment do not come back. The ones left behind can still enlarge, so gaining weight afterward will change the result. What you keep depends on what you do after the series ends.
What areas can be treated?
Abdomen, flanks, thighs, buttocks, arms, back, knees and the area under the chin are the common ones. The handpiece used depends on the size and shape of the area.
What if I have cellulite rather than fat?
Texture and dimpling are treatable and often respond alongside the contouring. Expect improvement in appearance rather than elimination. Any clinic promising to erase cellulite entirely is overselling the technology.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Yes. It is often paired with skin tightening on the same area or with a medical weight program running in parallel. Sequencing is planned at the consult so the treatments do not compete.
What does it cost?
It is priced as a series rather than per session, and the number depends on the area and how many sessions it needs. You get the full figure at the consult before anything is booked, and financing is available through Cherry.

Find out whether this is your treatment first.

A consult establishes whether the area bothering you is a contouring problem, a weight problem or a skin problem, because the answer decides which treatment is worth your money.
